Thursday, 25 June, 2020 – Nick’s Boughton Circle Walk – 1st post lockdown walk

PACKED LUNCH AND PLENTY OF WATER (it will be hot)

Meet 8.30am at the junction of Nunnery Road with South Canterbury Road. Through Toddler’s Cove, St Dunstan’s, path up to the water tower, Rough Common, into Church Wood, North Bishopden Wood, Courtney road, then on the road for a bit, into Clay Pits Wood, Boughton, under the A2 (hope the underpass is underpassable), through Forresters Lodge Farm, into Denstead Wood, then to Chartham Hatch, through the woods on the NDW, No Man’s Orchard, Bigbury, back into Canterbury on the NDW to the London Road roundabout and back home. (16 miles)

**Packed Lunch**

Meet at the corner of Nunnery Fields with Old Dover Road – opposite St Mary Bredin Church at 8:30

London Road roundabout/footpath to Bigberry/Chartham Hatch/Primrose Hill/Denstead Wood/cut through the wood (no path) to the Bower Wood/Nickle Wood path then the path through Fright Wood, working down to the path which crosses Ashford Road and proceeds through a gate in the wall, which leads to the bridge over the Weir.  Then onto Chartham, through the Church and taking the path near the Artichoke pub, which eventually leads to Strangers Lane, then New House Lane, footpath above Hollow Lane, through Wincheap Farm, Zealand Road where the walk concludes.

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road @ 8:30am

EVW Hode Farm, then footpath to Bridge A2 intersection, then under the A2 and into Bridge – to the Church then EVW through Bishopsbourne to Kingston – at Kingston we take the yellow roads to Marley via Marley Lane and later we take the footpath off to Westwood. From Westwood we take SSFR1 back to Canterbury; via Pett Bottom and Nackington.

8:30 Meet outside St Mary Bredin Church, Nunnery Fields

Road and footpath to Rough Common

Church Wood but, this time, through to Bishopsden and Bossenden woods, eventually to Dunkirk

Walk over the A2 bridge at Dunkirk and along the edge of Poundfall Wood down to Forester’s Lodge Farm and then take the footpath into South Bishops Den wood. Various footpaths through to Podhurst Farm, cut down to Bigbury, back over the A2 bridge and into Harbledown then Canterbury.

Lunch is a possibility somewhere in Canterbury if anyone is so inclined.

This walk follows the North Down’s Way route to Wye from Canterbury.

**Packed Lunch** but we’re hoping to try out the cafe at Perry Court Farm for Tea before catching the train back to Canterbury.

Buses back are not frequent; the train from Wye to Canterbury West (£4.05 with railcard):

Meet 8.30am K&C Hospital, junction of South Canterbury and Ethelbert Road.

To rugby ground, Nackington Road, Nackington, Whitehall Wood, Pett Bottom road, footpath to Westwood Farm, Covet Wood Farm, Colehill Wood, Dane Farm, Bladbean, Wingmore, North Elham (escape route for those who want the Cosy Tea Room and bus back), Rakehole Farm, Selsted.

Likely finish 12.30/1pm so bring some food or wait until we get home.

Approx. 12 miles. Led by Nick.

Thursday – 30 January, 2020 @ 8:30 Canterbury to Elham (Huw’s Way)

**Packed Lunch**but we could take tea/coffee at the new Cosy before returning back to Canterbury by bus?

This one starts at 8:30am outside 25 St Augustine’s Road and takes the Francigena to Patrixbourne. Then to Bridge via Bifrons Park.
Then there is a path crossing the Nailbourne to Crows Camp Hill just above Bishopsbourne.
We take a footpath from here and then a sharp left into Charlton Wood and then on to Heart’s delight via Marley.
We now follow the Elham Valley Way into Covert Wood, but on leaving the wood we go on the road to Bladbean Farm, and then on road and paths to Upper park gate Farm. From there we descend by road and path into Elham and, maybe, for Tea/Coffee/Beer before taking the bus back to Canterbury. About 11 miles.

Buses to Canterbury at 12:42 or 13:42 – journey time 33 mins
