This week’s new walk created and led by Huw.
Meet at Canterbury East Station to catch 09:09 train to Faversham. Return ticket with Railcard is £3.95 (note we shall return from Selling but the return from Faversham will cover this).

Walk from Faversham station to the Gunpowder park. This is 3km.
We can spend some time wandering around it as it is a fascinating bit of industrial archaeology.
Then we walk up to Cherry Tree Drive which is where we join the Swales Heritage trail.
Quite soon after we turn off the trail left at Deerton Street and go straight to Lewson St crossing the A2.
Then a mixture of yellow road and footpath passing The Trefoil and going near Rushett to join the yellow road just by Stuppington Farm.
Passing under the M2 along Elverland lane then left on a footpath to Scott’s Farm.
Right on to a footpath through Painter’s Forstal and footpath to Badgin’s Wood, then yellow road and a bit of the A251 to Sheldwich.
Take the footpath by the church to Hogben’s Hill, then yellow road past Selling church and then right on to a footpath to the station.
Estimated distance 15 miles.
Afternoon tea at Sondes café before we return on the train from Selling station.
Trains from Selling Station at 14:31; 14:56; 15:31; 16:02; 16:34 (Journey time less than 10 mins).

Meet at Canterbury East Station in time for 8:44 departure

We catch the 0844 from Canterbury East Station to Selling (£4.30).

We alight at 0853 and proceed via Selling village, Perrywood, Shottenden, Flemings, Molash Church, Challock, down towards Eastwell Manor, then NDW to Wye Station.

Find somewhere to eat our packed lunch around midday.

Back from Wye Station at 13:11; 13:41; 14:11; 14:41; 15:11; 15:41. Cost £3.90 with railcard.

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road at 8:30am

Proceed along NDW/EVW footpath onto Hode Lane and then Patrixbourne, up the hill and crossing the A2 by Higham Court and onward to Bishopsbourne.

Then south-west, between Charlton Wood and Gorsley Wood, Reed Farm, along yellow road to Reed’s Mill, Westwood, east side of Quilters wood, then past Clamberdown and Atchester Wood to Bossingham. West again on footpaths past Stelling Lodge Farm to hit B2068 just north of The Hollies. There will be 2-300 yards on this road.

Then onto footpath heading NNW past Dane Chantry, later past Petham Village Hall, through the village, heading for Canterbury, then just after end of buildings strike left, right and left on the FP to Kenfield Hall, up over Chartham Downs Rd, then back to Canterbury via New House Lane, Hollow Lane and Stuppington Lane. Meet at Canterbury West Station to catch the 8:36 train to Chilham (8 minutes) cost £4.60.

Walk Morning (12 miles approx)- led by Peter
Take footpath from Bagham then: Julieberrie Downs, Upper Thruxted Farm, Anvil Green, Waltham. We then work across to Waddenhall Farm, across the Minnis and into Elhampark Wood and then road and footpath to Elham. Tea break at Cosy Cafe, Elham before afternoon walk.

If joining for the afternoon, one possibility is to take the 12:25 bus no.17 from Canterbury Bus Station, which arrives in Elham at 12:56 – meet the party from the Morning Walk at the Cosy Cafe. If returning to Canterbury the buses back from Elham leave at 12:42; 13:42 and 14:50.

Afternoon Walk (leaves Elham approximately 13:30) (14 miles approx) – led by Peter
Elham to Paddlesworth then onto Gibralter Lane, Crete Road East and onto the North Downs Way/Saxon Shore Way coastal footpath to Dover followed by the Saxon Shore Way/White Cliffs Country Trail to St Margaret’s Bay. Transport (car) has been arranged to bring walkers back from St. Margaret’s Bay.

Last week’s Canterbury to Elham walk via Bossingham and Stelling Minnis:
