Day 1
We split into two groups, the men of the mountains and the wimps of the valley. The men of the mountains climbed from Rowardennan to the summit of Ben Lomond.
Day 2
Took the train from Tyndrum Upper to Bridge of Orchy (in the direction of Fort William) and walked back to Tyndrum and on to Kirkton Farmhouse.
Day 3
We parked Simon’s car at Dalrigh (about 1 mile from Kirkton Farmhouse) and followed the path to the foot of Ben Lui. Don, Huw, Keith and Simon walked to the summit (that is their tale to tell). John and Ben watched them climb to the first ridge and then headed back to Tyndrum. After a restorative pint of beer and a bit of emergency provisioning we walked back to Kirkton Farmhouse.
Day 4
Walk along the north east side of Loch Lomond from the Ardlui ferry to Rowardennan. We drove to Crianlarich and took the train to Ardlui and the ferry across the north of Loch Lomond. Then followed the West Highland way past Inversnaid, where we ate our lunch overlooking the small harbour, and then on to Rowardennan. Took ferry back to Tarbot on the west bank of Loch Lomond and a train back to Crianlarich.
Day 5
Simon walked from Kirkton Farmhouse to the summit of Ben Challuim on his own. The rest of us did a short walk of about 4.5 miles from Kirkton Farmhouse and a loop above the Strathfillan Wigwam centre at Auchtertyre.
Day 6
We drove to Ardlui and took the ferry to the west bank of the northern end of Loch Lomond. We picked up the West Highland Way and walked north towards Crianlarich.
