8:30am Meet outside St Mary Bredin Church, Nunnery Fields

Harbledown/Bigbury/Podhurst Farm then various paths across to South Bishops Den/Forester’s Lodge Farm/Poundfall Wood – bridge over A2

Dunkirk/Bossenden Woods, when we’re above Bossenden Farm we shall work our way across, towards Crooked Oak and then down to the Airstrip (recently visited by Barry and Peter) and from there back towards Church Wood, then on to Rough Common and back to Canterbury along the footpath behind Kent College and towards the cemetery.

A packed lunch/elevenses recommended – to be consumed en route.  As it is hotter these days a litre of water, at least, is recommended.

Thursday 23 June 2022 – The Bottoms and Bossingham

Meet 8.30am, K&C Hospital, South Canterbury Rd entrance.

Walk is about 15 miles, returning around 1.30pm. Bring lunch or snack.

Past the rugby club, through Nackington, Whitehill woods, up to footpath behind Pett Bottom. Run along Pett Bottom valley to Lynsore Bottom, footpath to Bossingham, then Stelling Lodge farm to Stone Street. Cross to Dunlies wood, and join Duckpit at Ansdore. Walk down Duckpit and cross before Petham House to Capel Road, behind Kenfield Hall, cross Bridge Downs road onto footpath to New House Lane and home.

Meet outside St. Martin’s Church @ 8:30am

PLEASE BRING A PACKED LUNCH

Canterbury to Fordwich to Stodmarsh to Grove Ferry (through the Nature Reserve) then on to the Wickhambreaux Valley and slowly down to Wichambreaux. Lunch somewhere near Wickhambreaux, thence a short trek to Littlebourne and through the woods towards Swanton Lane but cutting down, crossing the A257, towards Court Wood, Jacob’s Close, Firdown Wood, The Hoath Farm and then taking the footpath towards Little Barton, Spring Lane and back into Canterbury. For a shorter walk one could drop off at Littlebourne and catch the bus back to Canterbury.

Thursday 9 June 2022 – Church and Thornden woods

Meet 8.30am at St Mary Bredin.

The walk is about 13 miles. At about 11 miles we will be at the UKC campus, so bring a packed lunch and/or have coffee at the Gulbenkian cafe.

Landsdown Road, Toddlers Cove, river walk to Tonford Manor, Bigbury on the NDW, Upper Harbledown, Church Wood. Cross the Whitstable Road at Blean, Amery Court, We’ll Court, Thornden Wood, Alcroft Grange, Little Hall Farm, Darwin, Gulbenkian and then back into Canterbury. Some people want to go to the lunchtime concert (free) at 1pm.
