Thursday – 5 October, 2017 Canterbury West to Upstreet with Barry

Meet 9am at the junction of Station Road West and the mini- roundabout, in between the Goods Shed and where the footpath leads to the tunnel under the railway.
The route follows the direction of Hales Place, Broad Oak, West Blean Wood and across the
Canterbury Road (A 291) into East Blean Wood.
At Knave’s Ash the Roman Road is crossed and then onwards to the village of Hoath.
From Hoath continue towards Chislet to join, for a short distance, a section
of the Wansum Walk into Upstreet where the walk ends.

Depending on the time we arrive at Upstreet there is the choice of The Grove Ferry for lunch
or the bus straight back to Canterbury.The river path towards Fordwich is an option if anyone
wishes to extend the walk.

The number 8 bus route has four stopping points in Upstreet, Wall End Farm, Grove Ferry Hill, the Post Office and
Port Farm. There should not be more than a few minutes wait for a bus back to Canterbury.

Meet Canterbury West station for train to Wye @ 9:06 cost £3.70 with railcard, arrives 9:20

Wye/Hastingleigh/Lymbridge Green/Rhodes Minnis/Elham

Leisurely pace should get us there in 4 hours.

There is a bus at 13:35 or enjoy the luxuries on offer at the Cosy Tea Rooms then……

Meet corner of Stuppington Lane and South Canterbury Road 8:30 am

Proceed to New House Lane toward Kenfield Hall, then Petham, Mounts Wood, Hassell Street, then West to the Wye Downs, Wye.

Lunch at the one of The King’s Head, Wye Coffee Shop & Kitchen or The Tickled Trout or take the train back upon arrival in Wye

Canterbury to Fordwich to Stodmarsh to Grove Ferry (through the Nature Reserve) then on to the Wickhambreaux Valley and slowly down to Wichambreaux. Lunch at The Rose, Wickhambreaux thence a short trek to Littlebourne for bus or walk back to Canterbury
