The 2016 annual Fellowship walk traverses the Alpujarras region of Spain, on the southern flank of the Sierra Nevada, from Mairena in the East to Capiliara in the West. We arrived on Monday 2nd May, four directly from the UK and the other three from Granada where they had stayed over the weekend.
Day 1
Here we are at the start point
from which we descended down the steep valley to
Bayarcal, the highest village in Andalucia. After a restorative drink in the local bar we descended to the valley floor where we had lunch by the river.
From there we headed further down the valley, past Laroles via another canyon made our way back to our hotel in Mairena.
Day 2
We left Mairena at about 10am…
Day 3
We started the day at the Los Arcos B&B run by David and Gill with a lovely breakfast with fresh bread and pastries. David transported us in his bus from Valor to our start point in Yemen.
From Yemen we descended several hundred meters through this eroded landscape.
Lunch at Mecina Bombarón
A slight hold-up leaving Micin Bombarón
View on Bércheles from across the valley. Just 1 hour to go.
Day 4 Bérchules to Trevelez
We left Bérchules after filling our water bottles at the xxxx spring
Day 5 Trevelez to Capileira
