Thursday – 5 October, 2017 Canterbury West to Upstreet with Barry

Led by Barry.

Meet 9am at the junction of Station Road West and the mini- roundabout, in between the Goods Shed and where the footpath leads to the tunnel under the railway.
The route follows the direction of Hales Place, Broad Oak, West Blean Wood and across the
Canterbury Road (A 291) into East Blean Wood.
At Knave’s Ash the Roman Road is crossed and then onwards to the village of Hoath.
From Hoath continue towards Chislet to join, for a short distance, a section
of the Wansum Walk into Upstreet where the walk ends.

Depending on the time we arrive at Upstreet there is the choice of The Grove Ferry for lunch
or the bus straight back to Canterbury. The river path towards Fordwich is an option if anyone
wishes to extend the walk.

The number 8 bus route has four stopping points in Upstreet, Wall End Farm, Grove Ferry Hill, the Post Office and
Port Farm. There should not be more than a few minutes wait for a bus back to Canterbury.
