Meet outside the Hospital by the Medical Centre at 8:30am

Proceed to the Rugby Club then Nackington, Whitehall Wood, Middle Pett Farm, Hint Cottage, Bourne Park Road. We follow the Elham Valley Way through Bishopsbourne, Charlton Park and Kingston where we take the footpath to cross the A2. We walk to Walk Wood, Woodlands Wood, Pitt Wood, Oxenden Wood then into Adisham but taking the yellow road via Woodlands Farm connecting to the footpath for Twelve Acre Shaw, crossing fields and roads till we get to Shepherds’ Close Road. From Patrixbourne we follow the NDW up Hode Lane to Barton and then Canterbury where the walk ends.

Wednesday Walk – 22 May, 2024

Meet at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens at 8:30am for the midweek 2 hour walk followed by coffee at a city centre cafe.

The weather forecast is for light rain showers and a moderate breeze.

This week the walk will take us along the river path crossing the railway and A28 returning via Howfield Farm and Tonford Manor. When we reach Toddlers Cove we will have the usual discussion of where to go for coffee!

Thursday 16 May – Whitstable north west passage

Meet at 8.30am Launderette opposite St Mary Breeding

The walk is about 11m with a bus back from Whitstable. Option of a visit to Wetherspoons, cafe or packed lunch.

Landsdown Rd to Canterbury East, Toddlers Cove, river walk to Tonford Manor. Tonford Lane to NDW, through Bigbury wood and right down to Poldhurst Farm. Over the A2 bridge into Willows and Church Wood, to Denstroude Farm and Lane through Ellenden Wood and Fox’s Cross. Cross Thant Way at Yorkletts bridge. Walk along Seasalter Lane and footpath through Seasalter to the coast, approaching Whitstable by the beach huts and the Neptune.

Triangle bus back to Canterbury.

Wednesday Walk – 15 May, 2024

Usual meeting point and time, gather at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens at 8:30am.

The walk will explore a stretch of the Sarre Penn from near Alcroft Grange continuing on past the university before dropping back into city centre for coffee.

SSS337 – Tuesday, 14 May, 2024 – The Golf Walk

Meet outside St. Martin’s Church at 8:00 am

St. Martin’s Church/SVW/then up the hill to footpath behind the barracks/Across the golf club – avoiding balls and golfers/Scotland Hills and footpath to Moat Lane/Stodmarsh Road junction/Across Moat Rough towards Littlebourne/Turn right into Swanton Lane/Across the A257 to footpath that goes by Firdown Wood/Palmstead Wood then carefully along the Bekesbourne Road/Footpath on left and then take connecting footpath on right.  We end up at Little Barton Farmhouse,then Spring Lane and down the hill.  6 miles

Canterbury to Wye – Thursday, 9 May, 2024 @ 8:30

Packed lunch/elevenses.

Meet at the top of Nunnery Road, at the junction with Nunnery Fields @ 8:30.

Hollow Lane, New House Lane, Kenfield Road – footpath to Garlinge Green then:
Denge Wood, Erringe Wood. We cross Sole Street, heading for Church Wood (possible elevenses break by Crundale Church). We then follow the footpaths, later descending the downs, to Wye. About 11 miles.

Trains back to Canterbury West:

12:56; 13:56; 14:56

Travel time 15 minutes. Cost £4.75 with travel card.

Wednesday Walk – 8 May, 2024

Meet at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens at 8:30am for a two hour walk followed by coffee at a city centre cafe.

The main part of the walk will be on Barton Down, a great area for bluebells this time of the year. The forecast is rain free with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze.
