No walk today but a memory from 2018 – the three wise men caught on camera

No Wednesday Walk this week.

Nunnery Road/Zealand Road/Lime Kiln Road/Fields to Hollow Lane/Footpath to New House Lane and then we take the footpath leading to Chartham Downs but turn off towards St. Augustine’s when we arrive at the wood.  After walking through the wood we cross the recreation ground turning right on the return path leading to Larkey Valley, later joining Cockering Road and proceed onwards to the A2/retail park junction, crossing the various turn-offs to the A2 and finding the footpath to Wincheap School, later Oxford Road/Norman Road where the walk ends.

Last week’s The Valley Lark Walk:

Packed lunch and elevenses stop.  There is the possibility, for a shorter walk, to take the bus back from Boughton (check bus times beforehand).

8:30 Meet outside the Launderette, Nunnery Fields.

Harbledown/Bigbury/Podhurst Farm then various paths across to South Bishops Den/Forester’s Lodge Farm/Hickmans Green then footpath through tunnel under the A2 to Boughton under Blean, taking Dawes Road towards Blean Wood, finally cutting through Blean Wood to Brabourne Cottage.

Footpath and trail through North Bishopden Wood, on to Church Wood then onto Rough Common and back to Canterbury along the footpath behind Kent College and towards the cemetery.

Meet at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens at 8:30am for the two hour walk followed by beverages at a city centre cafe.

Meet @ 8:00 am outside the hospital – junction of South Canterbury Road with Ethelbert Road

The Langton Path to the end of the school playing fields, rugby club, over the A2 bridge and down to Merton Farm.  Footpath through Merton Farm, later Iffin Lane and connecting to footpath to New House Lane and then down into Larkey Valley Wood.  Through the wood, coming out on Cockering Road, which we walk along until we get to the footpath for New House Lane, then along Hollow Lane turning into the orchard, later over the bridge along Stuppington Lane to the junction with South Canterbury Road, where the walk finishes.

6 miles.

Meet at the junction of Nunnery Road with Nunnery Fields at 8:30am

Zealand Road, Wincheap Farm, Hollow Lane, New House Lane, Strangers Lane then take the footpath on the left to Chartham. When we get to Chartham we take the footpath through the Church and join the road, later crossing the railway line, walking towards the Weir. We cross the bridge over the Weir and then the A28 Ashford Road, walking towards Fright Wood underneath the railway bridge. In Fright Wood we take the permissive paths to Hunstead Wood, then Primrose Hill and then follow the footpath to Podhurst Farm coming out at Bigbury Road – various footpaths back to Central Canterbury.

Meet at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens at 10:00am for a short walk around the City prior to attending the Foundry for our Christmas Lunch @ 11:30. Civies and Motley may be worn for this walk but walking boots will not be required.

Meet at Canterbury Bus Station to catch the 9:30, number 12 Bus (Bay D4), to Deal (arrives in Deal at 10:16).

The walk follows the coastal path between Deal and Sandwich, towards the end of the walk it turns inland and travels back to Sandwich via the River Stour and Stonar Lake area.
