Two cars will leave Canterbury at 8:30 for Dover, whilst there will be room for eight or so people please advise Peter if you are coming in order to distribute the passengers between the cars.
Cars parking in Aycliffe, then walking along the top of the cliffs to Capel le Ferne, then zig zag down the cliffs, over the railway and along the concrete promenade and onto the beach. A mile or so to Samphire Ho. A drink/snack in the cafe or packed lunch, back through the tunnel by the pedestrian route and back along the cycle route to Aycliffe.
Please be aware that the cliffs are subject to coastal erosion, here is an example from 2021 – be careful:

I have been advised by Peter that we will definitely not be walking under the area shown in the YouTube video.
Last week’s Selsted via Pett Bottom walk:

Wednesday Walk 14 December, 2022

A time change this week. The walk will start at the main entrance of the Westgate Gardens at 10am and will finish
at the Foundry Brew Pub, 77 Stour Street, Canterbury, CT1 2NR at midday.
Striders attending the Christmas do should not arrive earlier than 12:00pm when the pub opens.

The walk this week will be on entirely dry land and on a day when the forecast is for sunny intervals and a moderate
breeze. Is there anything worse than attending a festive event soaking wet and covered in mud?

The pic from last week is of the lads in the Westgate Gardens waiting for the walk to start.

We now have ten Striders who are booked in for our Christmas event.

Last week’s very enjoyable Selling/train back walk:

Wednesday Walk 30 November, 2022

The best way to avoid those mid week blues is to join us midweek at the main entrance of
The Westgate Gardens for an 8:30am start.
Three of us ventured out last week and probably recorded the shortest walk in the Striders
long history. We walked along the river path, down stream, towards the Causeway and
then onwards to Northgate’s finest coffee house, the Fringe + Ginge.
It was agreed an early coffee was a better idea than nonstop rain.
See you midweek…………..

Last week’s The Don’s Walk:

Wednesday Walk 23 November, 2022

We will meet as usual near the main entrance to the Wesgate Gardens for an 8:30am start.

The walk last week was called off because of heavy rain. This is the first time this has been
necessary. In future if the weather looks grim check your inbox at 7:45 to see if the walk is
to go ahead.
Obviously no pics from last week but attached is a photo of the Westbere Marshes where the
beavers have apparently set up home. There has not been any Strider sightings as yet but we
may include the marshes in future walks in the hope we’ll see one of the little creatures pop
their head out of the water.
See you midweek………
