Buses back to Canterbury (change at Faversham)
bus 666 – 12:59; 13:59; 15:26; 16:26 (11 mins to Faversham) then we can take the 3X from Faversham to Canterbury – frequent service.

We could stop in Faversham for coffee/tea.

Reverse The Get Thee to a Nunnery Walk

Meet @ 8:00 am outside the hospital – junction of South Canterbury Road with Ethelbert Road

Walk to Rugby Club then, via Nackington to Bridge Road and into Whitehill Wood.  Onward to Lower Hardes Church then take the footpath to Bridge Road junction at Stone Street; cross onto footpath, which leads to Iffin Lane, and then the connecting footpath to New House Lane, then Hollow Lane crossing onto footpath through orchards and later connecting to Lime Kiln Road and Nunnery Road where the walk ends. 7 miles.

Meet outside St. Martin’s Church @ 8:30am

Snack break at Ickham (time for a cuppa)

SVW to Fordwich, then Littlebourne, Ickham, Wingham. Out of Wingham we take the footpath to Snake’s Hill and then down to Bossington Farm from where we follow footpaths to Bramling Downs. We take Bramling Road and eventually cut across to Shepherds’ Close Road, then Patrixbourne, then back to Canterbury via the Barton Estate. 14 miles or so.

Meet 8.30 at St Martins Church

About 15 miles with bus back from Herne Bay. Packed lunch or the Wallflower cafe. Short cut option of catching the bus back from Upstreet (about 9 miles).

Path to Fordwich, Stour Valley way to Stodmarsh road. Through Stodmarsh nature reserve to Grove Ferry. Then through Boyden gate on Saxon shore way to Hillborough and the coast. Walk along the sea front to Herne Bay, Wallflower cafe and bus.

We last did this very pleasant walk on 25 April, 2019 – it’s time to enjoy it again!

Meet Canterbury West station for train to Wye @ 9:03 cost £4.25 with railcard, arrives 9:17

Wye/Hastingleigh/Lymbridge Green/Rhodes Minnis/Elham

A leisurely pace should get us there in under 4 hours. Tea or coffee at the Cosy or the pub is a possibility.

The walk is about 15 miles, with short cuts available from Littlebourne (by bus) or Patrixbourne (NDW back to Canterbury). There are ample churches for a lunch stop.

Pick up Stour Valley walk through Fordwich to Stodmarsh. Then to Wickhambreaux, Ickham, pass close to Littlebourne through Lower Garrington Farm, Bekesbourne, Patrixbourne, Bridge, Whitehill woods, Nackington, home past the rugby ground.

Meet 8.30am, K&C Hospital, South Canterbury Road entrance

The walk is about 13 miles returning around 1pm, so bring a snack or lunch if required.

Through Nackington into Whitehill woods, over the Pett Bottom road and cross Elham Valley line down to the Bridge, Elham Valley walk to Bishopsbourne. At Charlton Park branch right and cross the Kingston road into Knowle wood. Walk down Covet Lane, cross to Marley Lane, Reed’s Mill, and join Pett Bottom valley route. Back through Lower Hardres and into Nackington to return via the rugby club.

Thursday 21 July – Denton, bus back

Meet at 8.30am, K&C Hospital, South Canterbury Rd entrance

The walk is 10m with a bus back from Denton. There is the option of The Jackdaw or home for lunch.

Through the hospital to the rugby field, over Nackington Road and take the path through the orchards to Whitehill Woods. Path along the Pett Bottom valley to Westwood, into Covert Wood to Bladbean Farm, Wingmore and Denton.

Regular no 17 buses back to Canterbury.
