On to New House Lane then through Larkey Valley Wood to join footpath to Chilham

Anyone who fancies a shorter walk (5/6 miles) could catch the train back at Chilham (to Canterbury West) – trains leave 11:17; 12:17.

Onward towards Wye but come down from the Downs just after Bilting to Home Farm and take this footpath to Wye

8:30 Meet outside St Mary Bredin Church, Nunnery Fields

Road and footpath to Rough Common

Church Wood but, this time, through to Bishopsden and Bossenden woods, eventually to Dunkirk

Walk over the A2 bridge at Dunkirk and along the edge of Poundfall Wood down to Forester’s Lodge Farm and then take the footpath into South Bishops Den wood. Various footpaths through to Podhurst Farm, cut down to Bigbury, back over the A2 bridge and into Harbledown then Canterbury.

Lunch is a possibility somewhere in Canterbury: to be decided during walk.

Last week’s walk, where the Striders play pathfinders in the Wickhambreaux Valley (more like a marsh with some dry paths through it), en route to the Rose Inn in the village

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road @ 8:30am

Canterbury to Fordwich to Stodmarsh to Grove Ferry (through the Nature Reserve) then on to the Wickhambreaux Valley and slowly down to Wichambreaux. Lunch at The Rose, Wickhambreaux thence a short trek to Littlebourne for bus back to Canterbury.

The Elham Valley Way (this is longer than the more direct route via Pett Bottom)
Canterbury to Elham (via Bifrons Park/Bridge/Kingston/Barham) plus a minor variation near the end of the walk

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road @ 8:30 am

Take the 13:35 bus back to Canterbury or have lunch in Elham – as one wishes.

Canterbury South Eastern Circle – Thursday, 19 January, 2017

Although the total mileage is 19 miles +, there are drop off points at Kingston, Wingham and Littlebourne where it is possible to catch a bus back to Canterbury.

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road at 9:00am.

Elham Valley Way as far as Kingston then cross A2 using the bridleway bridge to Barham Downs, Adisham, Ratling, Goodnestone and upto Gibson’s Farm Shop for lunch – arriving around 12:30/13:00.

The afternoon leg, for those wishing to complete the whole circle, takes the footpath from the Wingham Well Road into Wingham, joining the Ickham/Littlebourne footpaths then crossing to Stodmarsh Road at the corner of Moat Lane and taking the footpath through the Golf Club. The final part will be behind the barracks, across the old assault course and finishing by St Martin’s Church.

Estimated at 19 miles (Kingston 7, Wingham 12, Littlebourne 15)
