Meet at Canterbury East Station in time for 8:44 departure

We catch the 0844 from Canterbury East Station to Selling (£4.20).

We alight at 0853 and proceed via Selling village, Perrywood, Shottenden, Flemings, Molash Church, Challock, down towards Eastwell Manor, then straight on towards Kennington.

Find somewhere to eat our packed lunch around midday.

Canterbury South Eastern Circle – Thursday, 1 November, 2018

Although the total mileage is 19 miles, there are drop off points at Kingston, Wingham and Littlebourne where it is possible to catch a bus back to Canterbury.

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road at 8:30 am.

Elham Valley Way as far as Kingston then cross A2 using the bridleway bridge to Barham Downs, Adisham, Ratling, Goodnestone and upto Gibson’s Farm Shop for lunch – arriving around 12:30.

The afternoon leg, for those wishing to complete the whole circle, takes the footpath from the Wingham Well Road into Wingham, joining the Ickham/Littlebourne footpaths then crossing to Stodmarsh Road at the corner of Moat Lane and taking the footpath through the Golf Club. The final part will be behind the barracks, across the old assault course and finishing by St Martin’s Church.

Meet at Canterbury East to catch the 9:22 train to Sibertswold (Shepherds Well) – 10 mins journey time. Cost £3:65 with Railcard.

Sibertswold/Barfrestone/Nonington/Goodnestone/Muddy Bush Corner/Bramling Downs/Littlebourne (on to Canterbury if desired)

Plenty of buses back to Canterbury from Littlebourne – journey time around 13 minutes

The Royal Victoria Pavilion Walk – Thursday, 18 October, 2018

Meet 8:30 am at Canterbury Bus Station (Bay C2) for Bus 8 towards Westwood Cross, which the Striders will disembark at Birchington (bus departs Canterbury 8:40am).

Walk leaders Barry and Nick will then guide the Silver Striders, along a 380m ascent, to the Royal Victoria Pavilion, Ramsgate where the walk concludes. About 12 miles.

There are various buses back but Bus 9 at 14:33 looks to be the quickest at 49 mins.

Meet at the corner of Nunnery Fields with Old Dover Road – opposite St Mary Bredin Church at 8:30am – meet up with walk leader (Barry) at London Road roundabout at 8:45am.

Follow the North Downs Way, leave the way at Bigbury.
Poldhurst Farm, Denstead Farm, South Bishop’s Den, Forester’s Lodge Farm,
Dunkirk Church, Clay Pits Wood, Crockham Wood, Herne Hill, Thanet Way,
Wey Street Farm.

Short route into Faversham Goodnestone and Swale Heritage trail to return by bus
from Love Lane.

Long route Sandbanks Rd and Farm and at Nagden a circular walk around Nagden
Marshes joining the Saxon Shore Way into Faversham.
Bus stop in Abbey Street.

* The Nagden Marshes are under threat of a giant solar farm development, It’s a
wonderful desolate atmospheric area that sadly may soon be lost.

There is a bus (1X) at 14:44 from Kennington, The Old Mill to Canterbury, which takes 44 mins otherwise train from Wye to Canterbury – £3.85 with card:

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road @ 8:30am

EVW Hode Farm, then footpath to Bridge A2 intersection, then under the A2 and into Bridge – to the Church then EVW through Bishopsbourne to Kingston – at Kingston we take the yellow roads to Marley via Marley Lane and later we take the footpath off to Westwood. From Westwood we take SSFR1 back to Canterbury; via Pett Bottom and Nackington.
