Meet 8.25am, Bay D1 at Canterbury Bus Station.
Take 8.30 no. 16 bus to Folkestone. This bus leaves Canterbury along the New Dover Road, so the stops at Waitrose or further up the road are an option.
The walk is about 12 miles, with a lunch stop at Kearsney and a bus back from Temple Ewell.
We will get off at Folkestone bus station (arr 9.17) and walk though the town, along the Old High Street and the Harbour, past the Martello Towers on the coast and then take the England Coast Path up the cliffs. The walk to Dover is along the cliff top, past Samphire Hoe and Shakespeare Cliff. Then through Aycliff, past the Western Heights into Dover.
There is the option of a finishing the walk at that point (about 9 miles) and getting the bus 15 back to Canterbury. However, the walk will proceed through Dover and along the Dour Valley path, past Crabble Mill and River to Kearsney Abbey, where we can stop for lunch. Picnic advised, although there is a cafe at the Abbey.
We catch the regular bus no. 15 back from Temple Ewell, which is about 1 mile from Kearsney.
