Meet at Canterbury Bus Station (Bay D1) to catch the 8:30am, Number 16 Bus to Denton/Folkestone.  Cost £3. Duration 17 mins (to Denton).

The route, shown above is about 10 miles however, quite a lot of up and down – see the contours.  There will be breaks for refreshment so please bring snack/packed lunch/something to drink.  At the conclusion of the walk there will be the opportunity to extend it (Peter will advise of possibilities on the day) otherwise bus (Number 15) back from Penchester Road Bus Station, Dover:

Wednesday Walk – 30 April, 2025

Meet at 8:30am at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens for our weekly two hour walk followed by coffee at a city centre cafe.

The walk will take us along the North Downs Way, Upper Harbledown, Stock Wood, Rough Common and the university.

The attached pic was not taken in Striders territory. It’s a sign post for a Catalonian Costal Walk.

SSS387 – Tuesday 29 April, 2025 – The Get Thee to a Nunnery Walk

Meet corner of Nunnery Fields/Nunnery Road @ 8am

Nunnery Road/Zealand Road/Lime Kiln Road/Fields to Hollow Lane/Footpath to New House Lane/Connecting footpath to Iffin Lane/Footpath to Bridge Road/Footpath to Lower Hardes Church then along the lane for the path through Whitehill Wood back via Bridge Road and Nackington, via Rugby Club, to the Hospital. (6 miles).

Thursday, 24 April, 2025 The Adisham Circle

Meet outside the Hospital by the Medical Centre at 8:30am

Packed lunch/elevenses

Proceed to the Rugby Club then Nackington, Whitehall Wood, Middle Pett Farm, Hint Cottage, Bourne Park Road. We follow the Elham Valley Way through Bishopsbourne, Charlton Park and Kingston where we take the footpath to cross the A2. We walk to Walk Wood, Woodlands Wood, Pitt Wood, Oxenden Wood then into Adisham but taking the yellow road via Woodlands Farm connecting to the footpath for Twelve Acre Shaw, crossing fields and roads till we get to Shepherds’ Close Road. From Patrixbourne we follow the NDW up Hode Lane to Barton and then Canterbury where the walk ends.

13 miles.

SSS386 – Tuesday 22 April, 2025 – The Don’s Walk

Meet 8.00 am at St. Martin’s Church

Stour Valley Way towards Fordwich but taking footpath (forking right – off bike route) scary bit after Fordwich for 200 yds (alternative is to walk along Spring Lane and take connecting footpath) then turn right up hill to Stodmarsh Road via CCCU playing field. Across Stodmarsh Rd, footpath straight on then veer right into field and down to Lampen Stream. Turn right along bottom of field following stream for 400 yards, then turn left across stream and up the hill to old waste dump, right onto Swanton Lane, then straight across and down past Firdown Wood. Before the bare field at near Palmstead wood turn right and proceed towards the Hoath Farm but take footpath on left before reaching Hoath Farm and cross Bekesbourne Road to path on other side which leads home via Little Barton House. 6 miles.

Meet outside the Launderette – opposite St Mary Bredin Church at 8:30

London Road roundabout/SVW footpath to Bigberry/Chartham Hatch/Primrose Hill/Denstead Wood/Rhode Common/Perry Wood/Stocking Wood/Badlesmere.

Buses back to Canterbury (change at Faversham)
bus 666 – 12:59; 13:59; 15:35; 16:26 (11 mins to Faversham) then we can take the 3X from Faversham to Canterbury – 13:36 (hourly service)

We could stop in Faversham for coffee/tea.

Wednesday Walk – 16 April, 2025

Meet for the weekly two hour stroll at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens at 8:30am.

The forecast is for light rain and a gentle breeze.

No route planned but the walk will take two hours followed by coffee at a city centre cafe.

SSS385 – Tuesday 15 April, 2025 – Around The Woods Walk

Meet @ 8:00 am outside the hospital – junction of South Canterbury Road with Ethelbert Road

Walk to Rugby Club then, via Nackington to Bridge Road and into Whitehill Wood: turn left at the cross paths heading towards Bridge.  We continue straight ahead at the next cross paths then, at the path T junction, we turn right along the bridal path, keeping to the side of the woods until we come onto Pett Bottom Road at Little Eaton Farm.  Walking towards the Duck we turn right (Tapleys Hill) and, later, right again (School Lane), proceeding uphill we turn into the woods again at the footpath sign but, as we approach the path, leading to Pett Bottom Road, we turn left towards the centre of the wood and continue straight on; later crossing Bridge Road and back through Nackington, the Rugby Club, turning left at the Langton Path towards Stuppington Lane.  The walk concludes at the junction with South Canterbury Road.
