Wednesday Walk 26 October, 2022

We’ll meet again at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens this coming Wednesday at

the usual time of 8:30am.
The pic from our previous walk finds the WWs standing on a bridge where the Sarre Penn
flowed beneath their feet on Its way to joining the “brimming river”.
Men may come and men may go but the midweek’s go “on for ever”.

SSS257 – Tuesday 25 October, 2022 – Reverse The Valley Lark Walk

Meet @ 8:00 am at the top of Nunnery Road (at the Junction with Nunnery Fields)

Nunnery Road, Zealand Road, Lime Kiln Road and across the fields coming out at Hollow Lane, then onto New House Lane taking the footpath to Cockering Road.  We take the footpath though Larkey Valley Wood leaving for footpaths crossing New House Lane and Iffin Lane, then footpath through to Merton Farm, cross A2 bridge – Rugby Club, Langton Path, K & C Hospital where the walk ends. 6 miles.

Meet outside 25 St Augustine’s Road 8:30

NDW to Patrixbourne/Shepherd’s Close Road/Bramling Road/footpaths to Garrington Farms and then across Bekesbourne Lane/Howletts footbridges/Jacob’s Close/Firdown Wood, then footpath towards Hoath Farm but crossing Bekesbourne Road walking towards Little Barton Farmhouse/Spring Lane, which marks the end of the walk.

Wednesday Walk 19 October, 2022

The weather forecast for our walk on Wednesday is for sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

At 8:30am when we meet at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens the temperature will
be at 12 degrees. A perfect morning for a walk I hear you say.
The pic taken on the walk last week is another in our popular occasional feature,

SSS 256 – Tuesday 18 October, 2022 – Reverse The Woolton Farm Walk

Meet outside 25 St. Augustine’s Road at 8:00 am

Spring Lane, the footpath past Little Barton House by the railway line then along Bekesbourne Lane taking the second footpath on the left through Woolton Farm, past Farthings Wood and shortly afterwards taking a left into Court Wood towards Littlebourne Road, at the end of this footpath we take the footpath to the left, towards Firdown Wood but turn right before Palmstead Wood proceeding towards the Hoath Farm (footpath).  Bekesbourne Lane to Worcester Lane then through the orchards back to Spring Lane (where the walk concludes) via Little Barton House. 6 miles

Thursday 13 October 2022 – Petham, Bossingham circle

Meet 8.30am at the junction of Nunnery Fields and Nunnery Road.

The walk is about 16 miles, so we won’t be back until after 2pm. Please bring a packed lunch or snack.

Zealand Road, Lime Kiln, New House Lane, St Augustine’s, Garlinge Green. Capel Wood, Hault Farm, Ansdore, Dunlies wood. Cross Stone Street and then along the edge of Upper Hardres word to Bossingham. Then Pett Bottom valley back to White Hill wood and back home through Nackington.

We’ll meet again at 8:30am at the main entrance to the Westgate Gardens.
The first pic from our previous walk is of seasonal illegal scrumping. In pic two the lads can be seen relaxing
in a charming location close to the river.
A fine walk from the start to the smell of coffee, and all in just in two hours!

Thursday 6 October 2022 – Ash via Goodnestone and Staple

Meet 8.30am at K&C Hospital, South Canterbury Road entrance.

The walk is around 13 miles. Bring a packed lunch, although there is also a cafe and pub at Ash if preferred. Regular buses back to Canterbury.

Through the hospital, up to the rugby ground, Nackington, Whitehill woods, Middle Pett Farm, Bridge. Bifrons Park, Adisham, Goodnestone, Claypits, Staple, Ash.

Wednesday Walk 5 October, 2022

The WWs will gather at 8:30am at the main gate of the Westgate Gardens in the shadow of the towers.
Wednesday regulars have the pleasure before setting off of “Watching the River Flow”.
More references to Bob contained in the report of last weeks walk.
The first pic was taken outside Lidl in the Sturry Road. “Shop and Walk” is an
occasional feature of the midweek ramble. The second pic was taken at the far end of the Sturry Road
Community Park. In the background can be seen what looks like water treatment works. Unfortunately
there does not seem to be a way to access the fields.
Coffee was taken in the new Curzon cinema. A young DJ was playing Dylan and took requests. Steve
requested “One More Cup of Coffee”
